Günzburg, Mordecai Aaron
(1795-1846)
   Lithuanian Hebrew author and educationalist. He was born in Salantai and settled in Vilna in 1835. Together with Solomon Salkind, in 1841 he founded the first modern Jewish school in Lithuania, where he served as headmaster. As a spokesman for the Vilna Haskalah, he published studies of French and Russian history, translations, and an autobiography (Aviezer).
